I came across Jansz while walking around the Nine Streets area. The entrance caught my attention because it was different from the other restaurants; I later discovered that the storefront belonged to a pharmacy and the restaurant chose to keep as it was. Jansz, situated within the Pulitzer hotel, mixes Dutch elements with modern comfort; the atmosphere is elegant and easygoing with marble tables and gray wainscoting.
The window street facing tables are great if you want to enjoy Amsterdam’s street life while dining on delicious food. Do try the oysters and don’t miss the cheese and port. I enjoyed the selection of wines by the glass and the very attentive staff who helped me to pick the right wine to match the dinner. Jansz is an effortless excellent dining experience; everything is prepared with care and special requests are happily accommodated. Reestraat 8, 1016 DN Amsterdam, Netherlands.
