The Merchant

The merchant

Staying at The Merchant feels like staying at a friend’s home. Staff is relaxed and friendly and their attention to every detail made my stay memorable. The interior decor is truly unique: it combines the traditional 18th century architecture with bold colors and warm fabrics. The fireplace together with the heated bathroom floors create a welcoming and cozy environment which was perfect for the cold January’s weather.

The amenities in this inn surpass some chain hotels. At The Merchant guests have 24-hour access to a pantry filled with coffee, tea as well as sodas and snacks. The common area is also very inviting and relaxing; a nice place where you can strike up a conversation with the other guests. George Washington himself stayed here (there’s a George Washington Suite) in 1789. If you miss the big city, The Merchant is an easy 30 minutes commuter train ride into Boston. 148 Washington St, Salem, MA – USA
